Langhorne slim is a folk singer originally from Langhorne, PA, but now is based out of Brooklyn. Good folk, alt country sound, strong lyrics, good voice.

Way to represent smalltown PA, Mr. Slim. I’ll buy you a lager and challenge you to a game of quaits good sir.

Per their myspace page, “Herman Dune are David-Ivar Herman Dune aka Ya Ya/ /Neman Herman Dune /Andre Herman Dune.” On rateyourmusic.com, the band lists David-Ivar Herman Dune on guitar and vocals, and also Andre Herman Dune on guitars and vocals in the years 1999-2006. Listen, I don’t know who is what, but there’s 2 guys, there are some hermans and dunes spread between them, and the lead guy is reminiscent of Borat.

This is the debut album for Chicago based latin band allá - mainly a latin psychadelic pop group with notable tropicalia influences in the vein of os mutantes. However, they go far beyond those traditional influences in their exploration of different genres and sounds - electronica, indie, shoegaze, maybe even some prog rock. On Es Tiempo, the main members Jorge Ledezman, Angel Ledezma, and Lupe Martinez employ a wide and eclectic array of contributing musicians (16) plucked from around the globe. You’ll hear all these elements blended throughout the album, beautifully so by producer Colin Studybaker (Iron and Wine). With such collaboration and attention to production, it may not be a surprise that the project apparently took 4 years to complete, which will tell you this isn’t just another haphazard indie debut. It’s not without its flaws, but at the very least it’s an ear-pleasing album, never a bad thing, and has interesting elements and exploratory directions to give a few spins - makes for good summer music too.
